Possible requirement for evidence of full vaccination or exemption to attend UK PonyCon 2021

Here at UK PonyCon we are, like all of the entertainment / event industry, following government announcements related to Covid-19 carefully. On Monday 19th July the UK government announced that proof of double vaccination will be required to enter nightclubs by the end of September. and that proof of a negative test will no longer be sufficient They later clarified it may also apply to “crowded unstructured indoor settings” and that exemptions will exist for people advised by medical professionals not to take the vaccine. It is unlikely to apply to under-18s, who are not routinely offered the vaccine in the UK.

It is unclear at present whether this will affect our convention taking place on 9th and 10th October 2021. We believe our event may be considered a “crowded unstructured indoor setting”, however detailed guidance and examples are not currently available to allow us to be certain. That being said, we have taken the time to write out this announcement to give our attendees advance warning of the updated government guidelines.

The current government and World Health Organisation advice is to get vaccinated where possible. At this time we are unable to release more information or say for definite what will and will not be required of attendees or of us as event organisers. We intend to follow the current government guidance closely and update our attendees with any and all relevant developments. If proof of double vaccination is confirmed as a requirement to attend our in person convention, we pledge to give as much warning to our attendees as possible.

Here at UK PonyCon we are committed to keeping our attendees safe and following the government guidance on Covid-19 measures. For those who have been medically advised not to receive the vaccine, or are medically exempt, we will follow the government guidelines in place at the time of our in person convention about these circumstances.
